I think if you are having any concerns do what you need to in order to get some reassurance. I have had concerns about my daughters speech since she was about 12 months (she is now 2 1/2). I make sure I have her hearing tested from time to time (she has also had trouble with ear infections and had tubes at 15 months). I also called our public school system and asked about their early chilhood family education center. I explained my concern about her speech and they sent someone (for free) to my home to do some observations. It is amazing how reassuring it is for professionals to give an unbiased perspective.
