Hello everyone!! It has been awhile since I have posted but I am in dire need of some advice. My son started kindergarten this fall and is having a hard time with his classmates. He is the sweetest child, full of love and always has a compliment and something nice to say to everyone and his classmates are verbally and physically abusing him. He is getting hit and kicked and everyday comes home with another story about one of his classmates calling him ugly and stupid. He is a beautiful child inside and out and we cannot understand these other children. He tells them they are hurting his feelings and he just wants to be friends but some of these kids are really out of control. I have told him to just ignore the mean children and concentrate on the nice ones but he goes into class everyday with a mission to make these children like him. The physical part of it has been discussed with the teacher and the principal and they have taken steps to stop it, but they can't stop every name and mean comment. I hate to tell him to be mean right back but that seems to be all some of these kids understand. They aren't as vicious with the ones who name call right back. How do I get him to stand up for himself without turning into one of the kids he is defending himself against??
