I have a slate I am going to copy with my 4th graders to give to their parents this year. Paint the outside in a dark green, then, with the end of the paintbrush, make snowflake designs with dots. On the slate, paint ____days 'til Christmas. They can fill in the numbers every day with a piece of chalk. You might even add a rafia bow on one corner.
