:I am also running a school carnival this year and plan to revamp and change everything. I don't have a lot of parent support so in a sense, it's just me. I decided this year that it would be great to do a theme and get away from Halloween. Ours will be called Clemson Country Fair and will be very much a western theme. I have found people to donate their tractor, long bed for hay rides, horse rides and a petting farm. I'm adding games such as horse shoes, hay find and more. Thanks to the University here at Clemson, I'm getting Fraternities and Sororities to donate their time as they have to donate a certain amount of hours per year. If there's a univ. near you, you may want to find out if this is an option. I also sent a letter into a neighborhood grocery store asking for Soda Pop and chips which I was given. Papa Johns is giving us $5 Pizzas and I'm making a package for $3, which gives us a great profit and will feed all my volunteers for free! I called up a rent all store and they are donating use of a Moon Walk, Dunking Booth and Helium tank for my balloons. I'm really amazed at what people will donate, all you have to do is ask! My Volunteers will be dressing up as cowboys, etc. and we're making a jail house, county store and other props. I plan on about 12 games, 6 crafts (i found some great ideas for these on the internet) and a couple of activities on the stage. I even found an interactive script which includes the audience that is fantastic, all on the internet. Sorry, I don't have ideas really for a silent auction, all you have to ask the retailers and you may be surprised at what they are willing to do! I did however get donations for a meal for 2 at a nice restarant as a prize for our pie eatting contest. Good Luck with your quest and I hope this helps. Once you start, it's easy to run with it. I have 3 kids also, one still in diapers and I'm finding this a 9-5+overtime. I would also love to hear what other schools do as this is all very new to me. Ours will be on Oct 24th.
