: I'd like to make some embroidery transfers with my computer.
: Do you know of a special ink or paper I can print the design on?
: Could a photocopy of the design be used and would the marks be permanent?
: I really appreciate your help
: regards
You can make a transfer out of any picture. Just trace it with a "transfer pencil" available at JoAnn Fabrics and I imagine other stores that carry craft items. You then turn the tracing face down on the fabric that you will be embroidering, and place a hot iron (dry) on the paper for about 3-5 seconds and then move to another part of the design. Do not slide the iron because this will cause the design to be smeared - carefully lift and place again. The traced designs can be used at least 3 times.
I just found this question and I know it is late but I would like to know how your transfers turned out. I trace many old transfers that I don't want to actually use or that are beyond any further use. Many of these I get at garage sales in WorkBasket magazines from the 1940's and 1950's. Aunt Martha transfers are still available and can be ordered from their website.
