I need an idea for a diarama.

One of my 4-h projects is to make a diarama of a lion's habitat. I have little paper lions cut out for props. I know what the habitat looks like but have no idea how to go about making it. I planned on making some trees and big rocks for my lion figures to "lounge around" on. But, I have no idea how to make them. Also, how should I go about making the ground? Any other ideas you have would be GREAT!!!
