When I dry apples i just soak them in salted water for 15 minutes and then hang them to dry. It takes about 10 days to dry really good. I think the secret is that they are not layed flat and so air circulates completely around them as they are drying. I just string the slices of apple on a piece of wire then twist the wire some so the next slice doesn't touch it.
: What kind of preservated can you use on drying fruits that will keep them from molding over. I use them in liquid candle wax.
