Potpourri for Simmering w/Practical Ingredients

4 Oranges
4 Tangerines
4 Lemons
24 (3-inch) cinnamon sticks,
-broken into 1-inch pieces
1/4 c Whole cloves
1/4 c Juniper berries
2 ts Ground nutmeg

Remove zests (colored part only) from citrus with vegetable peeler.
Place on a baking sheet and place the baking sheet in turned-off gas
oven overnight, or until dry (the pilot light will dry them zest). If
you have an electric oven, warm the oven for 10 minutes at 200
degrees, then turn off.

Combine all ingredients in an airtight container. Makes about 1 1/2
cups. To simmer: Use 1/3 cup in a saucepan of water, and cook over
low heat.

Country Apple Simmering Potpourri

2 1/2 cups Apple Dices -- (1/2 in.) Dried
2 cups Cinnamon Chips - Large Cut
1 cup Allspice -- (Jamaican) Whole
1 cup Anise -- (Star) - Standard
1 cup Bay Leaf Whole -- (Spice Section)
1 cup Cinnamon Sticks -- (1-inch)
1 cup Ginger Root Slices
1 cup Globe Amaranth -- (White)
1 cup Orange Peel - Ribbon Cut
1 cup Sage - Whole -- (Spice Section)
1/2 cup Cellulose Fiber Fixative
1/2 cup Cloves - Whole
OIL: Apple 'N Spice or Cider Spice

Blend all.

NOTES : Simmering Jar Potpourri Fill the home with fragrant delights. Our
Simmering Potpourri recipes are designed to be visually appealing for gift-
giving as well as wonderfully aromatic. Mix ingredients and add oils the same
as for jar potpourri. Cure minimum 2 weeks. TO USE: For stovetop, add 2 to 3
tbsp. potpourri to boiling water in 2 quart stainless steel saucepan, reduce
heat and simmer uncovered on stovetop .For simmerpot, add 1 tsp. to hot water.
Potpourri can simmer for hours, but be sure to check water levels and add warm
tap water as needed. Discard the simmered mixture after use. NOT FOR HUMAN
CONSUMPTION

2 cups Rose Hips - Whole
1 cup Anise -- (Star) - Standard
1 cup Cinnamon Chips - Large Cut
1 cup Cinnamon Sticks -- (1-inch)
1 cup Curly Pods -- (Natural)
1 cup Ginger Root Slices
1 cup Juniper Berries -- (Red) - Whole
1 cup Noble Fir Cone Scales
1 cup Oak Moss - Whole -- (1/2-inch pieces)
1 cup Pine Cones - Birch
1 cup Spina Cristi
1/2 cup Allspice -- (Jamaican) Whole
1/2 cup Cloves - Whole
1/2 cup Sassafras - Cut -- (See Botanicals)
1/2 cup Tilia Flowers
OIL: Bayberry with Cinnamon

Blend all.

2 cups Velvet Flowers -- (Burnt Orange)
2 cups Windmill Pods -- (Burnt Orange)
1 cup Allspice -- (Jamaican) Whole
1 cup Anise -- (Star) - Standard
1 cup Cinnamon Chips - Small cut
1 cup Cloves - Whole
1/2 cup Calamus Root
1/2 cup Marigold Flowers - Whole
OIL: Orange 'N Clove or Orange with
-- Cinnamon

Blend all.
