Okay, my daughter is a pre-teen. Today was one for the record books. She didn't want to go to dance class, screamed at me at the top of her lungs and called me the worst parent. I can handle that, it's an easy punishment, I grounded her. She then proceeded to scream that I never loved her, and other such nonsense. Now in this process, the filthy room came into play. I have asked her for two weeks now to clean it, even helped her last weekend. The minute I turned my back, all her clothes were all over the floor and toys everywhere. Now all the clothes and toys are in a pile in the dining room, waiting to be carted out to the trash. She just came to me and said she had learned something and hoped I had too. I sent her back, still being way to angry to think reasonably, and I am a fairly reasonable adult. Now, does anyone have any suggestions for dealing with a headstrong pre-teen?
