diflucan is the only oral medication for yeast infection. yogurt takes forever. my daughter suffered yeast infections many times in her young years due to (according to our doctor) too much moisture. we live on the beach and spend many hours playing in water. the damp suit allowed for natural bacteria to get out of control. the alternative is the internal cream or suppository treatment that you might use as an adult....monostat, mycelex, femstat...etc. stick with the diflucan and just make her take it. it doesn't taste great, but you can give a treat after....chocolate, jelly beans, marshmallows, whatever works. my 3 year old niece also suffered multiple yeast infections. she potty trained late and the doctor believed the diaper assisted in keeping the moisture where the bacteria needed it to be. at any rate, good luck and hope your daughter is well soon!
: I have a 3 year old daughter that I recently had to take to the Dr. due to a yeast infection. Is this common in young girls? The Dr. gave her a oral medication called Diflucan. The problem is that she doesn't like it. I called the Dr. about this, she just said try to get her to take it, don't mix it with anything. Is there anything else I could try? yogurt? or is there another type of med. we could give her? If so, I wonder why the Dr. didn't recommend anything else. It has been 4 days and no improvement. Any one else out there run into this problem? I would appreicate any help. Thanks
