My 3rd and 4th child are 3 1/2 years apart. They get along fine but it is quite a difference. I don't think they will ever be on the same level though. (until they are adults) They play together but it isn't the same as when they each play with their own friends. I don't think you have waited too long but I don't think it would be wrong to wait longer or to start now. My first 2 are 2 years apart, 2 & 3 are 17 mths apart, 3 & 4 are 3 1/2 years apart and how they get along has nothing to do with it. Have the second baby whenever you want....but ya never know how long it will take to get pg.
