Hi I'm new to this site and I was wondering if somebody would be able to help answer a couple of questions for me about breeding parakeets. Well first off I have a male and female and they are both in the same cage with a nest box. secondly I put in some cardboard that they could chew up and use as some nesting materials, but im not sure if I should put it in the nestbox or by the outside of it. Next, Will they breed if they are the only ones in the cage? And are there ways that stimulate breeding with only one pair? I don't have a large mirror to put behind they cage so that doesn't work for me, but I am increasing the light so that does seem to help a bit. Next, the male is reegurgitating food into the females mouth and singing and preening her so what is the next step to tell that they are going to breed? And most importantly, how can you tell if the female is pregnat, and is going to lay eggs? Her cere color is medium brown at the moment and the males is bright blue. Thanks for any help you could give me. ~Alysia~ Let me know as soon as possible.
