DIVINITY
Place in saucepan over low heat....
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup white corn syrup
1/2 cup water
Stir until sugar is dissolved; then cook without stirring to 252 degrees (a little dropped into cold water forms a hard ball). Remove from heat and pour, beating constatnly, in a fine stream into...
2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Continue beating until mixture holds its shape and loses its gloss. Add...
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup broken nuts
Drop quickly from tip of spoon onto waxed paper in individual peaks...or spread in greased shallow pan and cut into 1" squares when firm.
Makes about 1 1/4 lb.

PENUCHE
2/3 cup milk
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. corn syrup
dash of salt
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup broken nuts
Scald the milk, stir in sugars, corn syrup and salt. Cook gently, stirring from the bottom occassionally, to 236 degrees (a little dropped into cold water forms a soft ball). Remove from heat. Add butter. Cool without stirring, to lukewarm and add vanilla. Beat until thick and no longer glossy. If desired, stir in nuts. Turn onto waxed paper and shape into a 12" roll; chill and slice. Or spread in buttered pan and cut into squares. Makes about 1 1/4 lb.

CREAM CARAMELS
Bring slowly to a boil, stirring constantly...
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup butter
1 cup cream
Then stir in gradually....
1 more cup cream
Stir frequently as mixture begins to thicken....constatnly as it darkens. Cook to 254 degrees (a little dropped into cold water forms a hard ball). Pour into buttered 7" square pan with 1/2 cup broken nuts scattered over the bottom. When cold, cut into squares. Makes about 5 dozen caramels.

2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 cups white Karo Syrup
salt
Cool to hard ball stage. Cool in buttered pans. Add vanilla. Add nuts. Put with wet hands.

CHURCH WINDOW CANDY
1 - 6 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup butter
3 cups multicolored mini marshmallows
3/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
In a large saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate pieces and butter; remove from heat and cool. Stir in marshmallows and 1/4 cup nuts. Divide mixture in half and shape on wax paper; each half into log 1 1/2 inches in diameter and 6 inches long, rool in nuts. Chill; slice logs into 1/2 inch slices. Makes 2 dozen.

MAPELINE CANDY
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup water
1 egg white
Boil sugar and water and pour over the beaten egg white. Nuts may be added. Drop from a spoon and add a nut. Flavor with 1 tsp. vanilla, if desired.
