DATE PECAN CANDY ROLL

2 c. sugar
1/3 c. dark corn syrup
1/2 c. light cream
1/2 lb. dates, cut in pieces
4 c. pecans, chopped
4 Tbsp. margarine
Combine sugar, cream, syrup and butter. Boil until 238 degrees
on candy thermometer or until a drop in cold water forms a soft
ball. Remove from heat. Add dates. Beat until it cools and
thickens. Add pecans. Turn out on a damp towel. Roll into
log. Cool. Cut into a log about 1 inch in diameter. Chill.
Cut in 1/4-inch slices.
