First question: do you live with your parents? If the answer is yes then maybe its time to move out on your own. If the answer is no then your parents have no business telling you what to do. I'm not an only child, but my parents hated my boyfriend when I was 17. They absolutely could not stand the idea of me dating 'him'. According to my mother he was a bad influence and would amount to nothing. Well, 17 years later we are still married and have a great daughter. My parents now adore my husband (personally I think they like him better....haha).
Hang in their kiddo. You know what is right for you. You are an adult and even though your parents may not understand this, you have the right to make your own decisions about who is going to be a part of your life.
