If you are prone to nosebleed make sure you get enough Vitamin C and Zinc.
Vitamin C, a component in the production of collagen, and Zinc, helpful in
the use of protein, are both important to the maintenance of body tissues,
including the blood vessels. Be sure to eat a variety of foods in order to
get enough of these nutrients. Good sources of Vitamin C include citrus
fruits and vegetables, including potatoes. Good sources of Zinc include
beef, liver, fish, whole-wheat products, brown rice, and popcorn.

To help relieve common cough and cold, drink half a glass of warm water mixed with one teaspoon of lemon juice and one teaspoon of honey. This can be taken 2-3 times a day.

Nighttime Cramps may be prevented by making sure you get enough calcium. Nighttime cramps are often associated with lack of calcium in the diet. Eat plenty of calcium-rich foods like broccoli, leafy greens, and low-fat dairy products. If cramping is still a problem, consider taking a calcium supplement.

Make your own soup to help build up your calcium intake to help prevent Osteoporosis. When preparing stock from animal bones, add a small amount of vinegar to leach the calcium out of the bones. Gently massaging a scar after the area is well healed but within the first six months of the injury can help minimize scarring. By massaging you are helping to stretch out and soften the scar be helping break down the tough collagen fibers that are forming as part of the scar maturation.

A home remedy for excessive thirst during diarrhea is a sugar and salt
solution. Mix about one teaspoon of sugar and about one gram common salt in about 200 ml. water. This should be given whenever the sick one wants to drink; however, do not give the whole thing at a time - give in small doses of 50 ml. at a time.

To help reduce fevers, combine 10 gms. raisins and 10 gms. fresh ginger. Crush them and put in 200 ml. water for one hour. Then boil it until the water reduces to 50 ml. Strain it and drink while warm. This preparation can be taken twice a day - it helps in reducing the symptoms of fever. If a fever goes higher than 102 degree Fahrenheit, it should be brought down by putting pieces of cloth soaked in cold water on the forehead, hands, arms and feet. The cloth pieces should be regularly changed after a few minutes.

For stomach pain due to acidity or gas, drinking plain soda water provides
immediate relief. For other types of stomach pain, try 2 tea spoons of lemon juice plus one gram of rock salt mixed with 50 ml. of warm
water. This can be taken three times daily.

Meat tenderizer can be used to relieve the pain and itching from
insect bites - just dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of tenderizer in water and apply to bite.

If you are suffering with a stuffy nose, try boiling a bit of sage in water. It helps clear your nose and makes the house smell great too.

If you have a stye in your eye, boil some water, soak a regular tea bag in the water for about 2 minutes, don't put sugar or milk in the tea! ;) Take the tea bag out as hot as you can stand it and place it over the offending eye until it cools. Repeat this a few times a day.

If you have an ear ache, or water in your ear, try putting a few drops of gin in and keep your head tilted for a few minutes. We've always kept a small bottle of gin in our medicine cabinet and used it many times for the kids after swimming or when they complain of an ear ache.
