Kahlua

3 cups boiling water
4 cups sugar
1 vanilla bean
1 cup brewed French Roast coffee
750 ml vodka (cheap brands are as good as expensive)

Boil water and sugar for 20 minutes, add vanilla bean split lengthwise and let stand until cool. Combine two mixtures when cool and add vodka. Seal in 1/2 gal. container and let stand for 2 weeks. Remove bean and pour into pretty bottles
