Breads


WHOLE WHEAT ROLLS

  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3 Tbls. Sugar
  • 4 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 4 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 3/4 cups flour

Scald milk; stir in sugar, salt butter and molasses. Put the yeast in warm water, stir to dissolve. Stir into the lukewarm mixture 2 cups whole-wheat flour and 2 cups white flour. Beat until smooth. Add enough of the remaining flour to make a soft dough. Knead until smooth (10 minutes). Let rise in warm place until doubled. Punch down and shape into rolls and place in a buttered 8x13 inch glass pan. Cover and let rise until doubled. Bake in a 400-degree oven for 25-30 minutes
